INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Colts coach Jim Caldwell sure didn’t act like a rookie Sunday.
He looked right at home receiving the trophy for the AFC championship, smiling and praising his players.
The fifth rookie coach to reach the Super Bowl now has a chance to become the third to win it in his first year after Indianapolis beat the New York Jets 30-17.
And what a first season it has been. After becoming the first coach in league history to open a career with 14 straight wins, Caldwell donned a new AFC champions T-shirt and has his Colts headed back to Miami for their second Super Bowl in four seasons.
Caldwell quieted the second-guessing that came after he pulled his starters in the third quarter of the second-to-last game, costing the Colts a chance at a perfect season.
