FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) – LaDainian Tomlinson was helpless on the San Diego Chargers’ bench, a wounded running back whose pride had taken a major hit.
It was the AFC championship game at New England in 2008, and the star running back tried to push through the game with a sprained knee. He lasted just a few plays before the pain sent him to the sideline while the Chargers lost out on a Super Bowl appearance.
Three years later and healthy with the New York Jets, Tomlinson is headed to Foxborough for a playoff game again, and he says Thursday it’s a chance “to redeem myself.”
Coming off perhaps the best postseason performance of his career, the NFL’s seventh-leading rusher says he’s so excited, “my hair’s going to be on fire.”
