INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -The Indianapolis Colts insist they’re ready to face Baltimore on Saturday.
Not rusty.
For the fourth time since 1999, the Colts clinched a first-round bye. They are 0-3 when that happens – something many outsiders believe was a result of resting starters, losing timing and, well, getting rusty.
First-year coach Jim Caldwell changed the approach this year. Though he did pull starters in the third quarter of Indy’s next-to-last game and three series into their regular-season finale, he had the starters practice against each other last week.
Most players believe that kept the competition high. Translation: They’ll be ready to face the Ravens in the first playoff game ever at Lucas Oil Stadium.
