BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Browns coach Eric Mangini was always confident he would be back for a second season in Cleveland and described president Mike Holmgren’s decision to keep him as “great.”
Mangini on Tuesday met with the media for the first time since Holmgren chose to bring him back. Flanked by Holmgren and new general manager Tom Heckert, Mangini joked that it was nice to be surrounded by others.
“It’s great to be up here with other people,” Mangini said, smiling.
Holmgren also added Bryan Wiedmeier, formerly with Miami, as an executive vice president of business operations. Holmgren hopes that reshaping Cleveland’s front office will ease some of the burden that Mangini had to carry in his first year with the Browns.
