KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -If Charlie Weis has a mind to become offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, the welcome mat may be out.
Head coach Todd Haley said Wednesday he has definitely decided not to wear both hats next season. And it’s well known that he and Weis are old friends from their days as assistants for the New York Jets.
Weis was fired this past season as head coach at Notre Dame. He also has a connection with Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli. They were together with the New England Patriots.
Haley fired offensive coordinator Chan Gailey right before the season and assumed play-calling duties himself. The Chiefs finished 4-12.
Haley says he and Weis share the same philosophy.
