BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Bills special teams coordinator Bobby April has opted out of the final two years of his contract.
Saying “it’s time for me to move on,” April informed the Bills on Tuesday that he does not intend to return no matter who the next head coach is. April said his last day will be Friday, ending a six-year term during which the Bills special teams were among the NFL’s best.
April’s decision came a day after the Bills released their entire coaching staff by informing them they can look elsewhere for jobs. The coaches, however, remain under contract until a new coach is hired.
April wanted to formally free himself of his contract so other teams know he is available, and clear up any ambiguity left by the Bills’ announcement.
