ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -An official within the NFL says Mike Shanahan has spoken to the Washington Redskins about their vacant head coaching job.
General manager Bruce Allen talked to Shanahan by phone on Monday as the team moved quickly following the dismissal of Jim Zorn.
Zorn was fired in the pre-dawn hours Monday, one day after Washington completed a 4-12 season with a 23-20 loss at San Diego.
The official spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the team is not revealing details of its coaching search.
