EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -Cincinnati running back Cedric Benson is inactive for the Bengals’ game against the New York Jets, and is being replaced in the starting lineup by Bernard Scott.
It was expected that the Bengals, who have already wrapped up the AFC North, would rest some of their starters Sunday night. Other starters joining Benson on the inactive list are safety Chris Crocker, defensive end Robert Geathers and defensive tackle Domata Peko. Quarterback Carson Palmer is starting.
Jets punter Steve Weatherford was active despite tweaking his right hamstring in practice Friday. Kicker Jay Feely would handle punts if Weatherford aggravates the injury.
Other inactives for the Jets include wide receiver David Clowney and cornerback Donald Strickland.
