FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -Brad Smith has been the New York Jets’ jack-of-all-trades, lining up as a wide receiver, running back, quarterback, special-teams ace and now kick returner.
After a record-breaking career as a quarterback at Missouri, Smith continues to develop as an all-around weapon in his fourth season for the Jets.
Smith’s team-record 106-yard kickoff return against Indianapolis last Sunday turned the momentum in New York’s favor, and kicker Jay Feely says perhaps the Jets wouldn’t have won if not for that play.
Smith, listed as a wide receiver, isn’t a star, but he has the ability to change a game from anywhere on the field. That versatility might come into play Sunday in a win-or-else game against Cincinnati.
