Eagles vs. Giants Week 17 Odds
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – The Giants need a lot of help if they’re going to make the playoffs this season but first, they must beat the Eagles at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
PHILADELPHIA: The Redskins beat the Eagles 27-20 in Week 16 to hand Philadelphia its ninth loss in its last 10 games. Nick Foles completed 32-of-48 passes for 345 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while LeSean McCoy rushed for 45 yards on 13 carries. Jeremy Maclin racked up eight catches for 116 yards and a touchdown, while McCoy caught nine passes for 77 yards. The loss dropped Philadelphia to 4-11 overall and 3-11-1 against the spread. The Eagles have now lost two in a row and have failed to cover the spread in back-to-back games. Foles was placed on IR with a broken hand, which means that Michael Vick will draw the start this Sunday in East Rutherford.
NEW YORK: The Giants were embarrassed for the second straight week when they were beaten 33-14 by the Ravens in Week 16. Eli Manning completed 14-of-28 passes for 150 yards with one touchdown and zero interceptions, while Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for just 39 yards on nine carries. Dominick Hixon caught just three passes for 36 yards with one touchdown, while Ruben Randle caught one pass for 43 yards. It was the Giants’ second consecutive loss and their third defeat in their last four games. They also failed to cover the spread for the third time in four games after failing to cover as a 1-point favorite in Baltimore. The Giants need to beat the Eagles and then have the Cowboys, Vikings and Bears all lose to make the playoffs.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Giants are 7.5-point favorites over the Eagles, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 45.5 points. New York enters play with a 8-7 record and a 5-2 home record, while Philadelphia is 4-11 overall and 2-5 on the road.
TRENDS: The Eagles are 5-0 against the spread in their last five trips to New York and 7-1-1 against the number in their last nine games versus the Giants. The underdog is 13-2-1 against the spread in the last 16 meetings between these two teams and the road team is 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings overall. The under, meanwhile, is 4-1 in the last five meetings and 11-4 in the last 15 meetings between these two teams in New York.
