Redskins vs. Jaguars Free Pick
JACKSONVILLE, FL (TheSpread) – The Jacksonville Jaguars no longer have control of their own destiny in the AFC. But a win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday would go a long way to keeping their playoff hopes alive. Continue reading for odds, picks and more on this Week 16 NFL matchup.
According to current NFL Week 16 odds and oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, the Jaguars are 7-point favorites over the Redskins on Sunday. The over/under total for this game is currently 45 points.
The Redskins come into this game 5-9 on the year and 6-6-2 against the spread according to latest NFL trends. They’re 3-4 on the road this season but have covered in four of their seven games away from FedEx Field.
The Jaguars fell to 8-6 with their loss to the Colts last Sunday but are still 9-5 against the spread overall. They’re 5-2 at home this year where they’ve covered in five of their seven games.
NFL Week 16 Free Pick:
The Redskins’ defense couldn’t stop a play if you told them the play before hand. They’re a horrendous bunch and worse yet – they seemingly don’t care. With players like DeAngelo Hall just trying to pad his interception total, it’s an undisciplined bunch capable of giving up 30 points a game. That said, Rex Grossman played well last week in Dallas so we’re not sure about laying the seven with the Jaguars this Sunday. That’s why we believe there’s more value in the over, even though it’s sitting at 45 (which is somewhat high given the lack of offensive explosion for both of these teams). The over is 7-1 in the Jags’ last eight games overall and 4-1 in their last five home games. It’s also 7-2 in the Redskins’ last nine games following an ATS win and 4-1 in Jacksonville’s last five games in Week 16. Assuming David Garrard and Maurice Jones-Drew continue to put up good numbers, this one shouldn’t have much trouble going over the total. Our pick is the over 45.
