Saints vs. Cowboys Odds
ARLINGTON, TX (The Spread) – The Cowboys look to continue their push for the NFC East title on Sunday when they host the disappointing Saints at 1PM ET on FOX.
NEW ORLEANS: The Saints are coming off a 41-0 win over the Bucs to eliminate them from playoff contention. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Saints, but they are also out of playoff contention at 6-8. Last week’s win was the most complete game the Saints have had all season. The offense racked up 447 total yards while the defense forced six turnovers and had two sacks against the Tampa offense. Drew Brees threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns to lead the team in the victory. Brees has thrown for at least 300 yards in his last three games and he has 4,335 yards on the season. He could potentially throw for 5,000 yards with a pair of strong showings to end the season.
DALLAS: The Cowboys are coming off a 27-24, overtime win over the Steelers last Sunday to improve to 8-6 on the season. Dallas has now won three straight and five of their last six games to get into a tie for first in the NFC East with the Redskins and the Giants. Washington has the tiebreaker right now, but the Cowboys and Redskins meet up in the season finale. The win over Pittsburgh was a grind-out victory. Dallas trailed in the fourth quarter, but scored a touchdown with 6:55 to play. In overtime, the Cowboys intercepted a Ben Roethlisberger pass and returned it to the 1-yard line, which set up a game-winning 21-yard field goal. In the win, the Dallas defense held Pittsburgh to 69 yards rushing. On the offensive end, Tony Romo threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns on 30 of 42 passing.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Dallas is the slight favorite at home, as the Cowboys have odds of -1 point against the Saints. The over/under total has been set at 51 points. New Orleans is 6-8 on the season, 2-5 on the road and 7-7 against the spread. Dallas is 8-6 overall, 4-3 at home and 6-8 against the spread.
TRENDS: The underdog has covered the spread in the last 7 games in this series and the Saints are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings with the Cowboys. New Orleans is also 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games following a win while Dallas just 3-13 ATS in their last 16 home games.
