Bears vs. Vikings Odds
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (TheSpread) – The Minnesota Vikings will host their first outdoor home game in many years Monday night as they take on the Chicago Bears from TCF Bank Stadium.
The game is being play at the University of Minnesota because the roof of the Metrodome collapsed last week and is still not ready for use.
Minnesota is 5-8 on the season and 4-3 in home games while Chicago is 9-4 on the year and 5-1 on the road. Trends show that the home team has covered the point spread odds in 13 of the last 16 games played between these two teams.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have given Chicago point spread odds of -7.5 at Minnesota. The over/under total has been set at 33.5 points. (View Matchup)
Opening odds had Chicago favored by 8 points. The spread climbed up to 9 during the week before dropping back to 7.5 points. The over/under total opened at 34 points and fell back to 33.5 to close. Weather is expected to be very cold and snowy, so scoring could be a challenge Monday night.
Minnesota is just 4-9 against the point spread odds this year and the Vikings have went under the point total in 7 of 13 games. The Vikings have won 2 of their last 3 and have lost two quarterbacks in the process, which is forcing the team to start rookie Joe Webb. On the season, Webb is 2-of-5 passing for 8 yards. Webb has the ability to run, which could pose some problems for the Chicago defense. On the season, Minnesota is averaging 17.7 points per game on offense and allowing 21.1 points per game on defense.
Chicago is 6-6-1 against the point spread odds this season and they have went under the point total in 8 of 13 games. The Bears lead Green Bay by 1.5 games in the NFC North and a win on Monday would put them in the driver’s seat to win the division. The Bears are coming off a 36-7 loss to New England last week, which snapped a five-game winning streak. On the season, Chicago is averaging 19.5 points per game on offense but allowing just 17.5 points per game on defense. Jay Cutler has thrown for 2,697 yards and 17 touchdowns on the year, but also has 12 interceptions.
In terms of injuries, Chicago linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa is questionable for the game with a knee injury while Minnesota receiver Percy Harvin is probable to play despite continued issues with migraine headaches.
Over 36,100 public bets have been placed on this game with Chicago getting 67% of the wagers with point spread odds of -7 against Minnesota.
