49ers vs. Eagles Pick
Two NFC playoff hopefuls will square off at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 15 when the Philadelphia Eagles host the San Francisco 49ers at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
The 49ers beat the Cardinals 24-9 on Monday night thanks to Frank Gore’s 167 rushing yards and the defense forcing seven turnovers. Gore also had a touchdown in the victory, as San Fran covered as 4-point underdogs and the combined score went under the posted total of 44.5 points.
The Eagles beat division rival New York 45-38 as a 1-point favorite in Week 14. The combined score went over the posted total of 42.5 points as Donovan McNabb threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Receiver DeSean Jackson also caught six passes for 178 yards and a touchdown, while also running back a punt 82 yards for a score.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made the Eagles 8-point favorites over the 49ers in Week 15. The over/under total for Sunday’s game has been set at 41.5 points.
The 49ers are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games when playing Philadelphia, but 5-1 ATS in their last six games when playing on the road against the Eagles. Meanwhile, Philly is 14-7 against the number in its last 21 games and 6-3 ATS in its last nine games at home.
While there’s no question the Eagles have the better team, the 49ers offer some value getting eight points. Mike Singletary won’t allow them to quit and considering they still have a small shot at winning the NFC West, they should come out ready to play. Plus, now that Alex Smith is back under center, the 49ers also have a decent passing game to go along with Gore’s playmaking ability on the ground.
Check the weather report, but the east coast is expected to get dumped on with snow this Sunday. If that’s the case, the underdog getting over a touchdown in points is usually a smart play. Our free pick prediction for this game is San Francisco +8 and the under 41.5, especially if the weather is as bad as forecasts suggest it’ll be.
