Lions big favorites vs. Vikings
DETROIT, MI (The Spread) – The Detroit Lions look to add to their playoff hopes and end the hopes of the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday when they meet at 4:25PM ET on FOX.
Detroit has won its last two games to get to 9-4 and secure a winning record for only the second time in 13 seasons. The Lions are one game behind Green Bay, but will meet the Packers in the season finale. Detroit is 6-1 at home and 7-6 against the spread, they have covered in their last two games, a pair of 34-17 wins at home.
Minnesota is coming off a 30-24 OT win over the Jets at home. The Vikings have won two straight and four of their last six to get to 6-7 on the season. The Vikings are holding out hope for a winning season, but need a win over Detroit to get there. Minnesota is just 2-4 on the road and 8-5 against the spread this season. The Vikings have covered in three straight and five of their last six games coming into Sunday.
Oddsmakers like the Lions at home, as oddsmakers from BetDSI have given Detroit odds of -7.5 points against the Vikings on Sunday. The over/under total for the game has been set at 43.5 points (View Matchup). The home team has won seven of the last 10 between these two, but the Vikings are 4-2 against the spread in their last six against Detroit.
These two met back on Oct. 12 in Minnesota with the Lions picking up a 17-3 win. The story of that game was the Detroit defense, as it held Minnesota to just 212 yards of offense while picking up three turnovers and eight sacks. The Lions’ offense wasn’t great, but the team was dealing with an injured Calvin Johnson. They have seemed to click the last two weeks at home, posting over 380 yards in both victories.
