Jets vs. Jaguars Odds
JACKSONVILLE, FL (The Spread) – Two struggling NFL teams collide on Sunday at 1PM ET when the Jaguars host the Jets on CBS as part of week 14 of the season.
NEW YORK: The Jets are coming off a 7-6 win over Arizona at home last week. It marks the third time in five games that the Jets have been held under 10 points in a game. In last week’s win the Jets were held under 300 yards of offense and coach Rob Ryan was forced to pull Mark Sanchez from the game and insert Greg McElroy. Sanchez was just 10 of 21 passing for 97 yards and three interceptions. McElroy was able to lead the Jets on their lone touchdown drive. Despite his struggled, Ryan has elected to go with Sanchez as the starting QB in this game as well. One area the Jets were strong in last week was defense, as they allowed only 137 yards from the Cardinals.
JACKSONVILLE: The Jaguars are coming off a 34-18 loss at Buffalo last week. Jacksonville has dropped 8 of its last 9 games coming into this game with the Jets. In the loss, the Jaguars were held to just 236 yards of offense. Chad Henne had his worst outing with the Jaguars yet, as he was just 18 of 41 passing for 208 yards with a touchdown and an interception. On the season, Henne has appeared in five games and thrown for 1,032 yards with 8 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. Defensively, the Jaguars allowed the Bills to rush for 232 yards. Jacksonville ranks 31st in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing 144 yards per game on the season.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Jets are 2.5-point favorites on the road against the Jaguars, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 38.5 points. The Jets are 5-7 on the season, 2-3 on the road and 6-6 against the spread. The Jaguars are 2-10 overall, 1-5 at home and 6-6 against the spread.
TRENDS: The Jaguars come into this game at 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 games against the Jets. The Jags are, however, just 1-5 against the spread in their last 6 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games in December. The Jets are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record.
