Bengals vs. Chargers Week 13 Odds
SAN DIEGO, CA (The Spread) – The Bengals will look to keep their playoff hopes alive when they visit the Chargers at 4:25PM ET on Sunday.
CINCINNATI: The Bengals won their third straight game last Sunday by beating the hapless Raiders 34-10 in Cincinnati. Andy Dalton completed 16-of-30 passes for 210 yards with three touchdowns, while BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed 19 times for 129 yards and a score. A.J. Green led the team in receiving with three catches for 111 yards, while Mohammad Sanu caught five passes for 29 yards and two scores. The win improved Cincinnati’s record to 6-5 and 5-5-1 against the spread, as the team successfully covered as a 9.5-point favorite. It was the third straight game in which the Bengals covered the number, as they covered as a 3.5-point underdog against the Giants, as a 3-point favorite versus the Chiefs, and as a 9.5-point fave against Oakland. The Bengals are now one win behind the Colts for the first of two wild card spots in the AFC.
SAN DIEGO: The Chargers lost their third straight game last Sunday in a 16-13 heartbreaker in overtime to the Ravens. In the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, San Diego’s defense allowed a 29-yard Ray Rice reception on a 4th-and-29 play to set up a game-tying field goal. Philip Rivers completed 23-of-36 passes for 228 yards and one touchdown, while Ryan Mathews rushed 72 yards on 19 carries and Danario Alexander caught five passes for 74 yards. Malcolm Floyd also caught four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. The loss dropped the Chargers to 4-7 on the year and 5-6 against the spread, as they failed to cover as a 1-point home underdog. Outside of winning five straight and having a ton of help, the Bolts’ playoff hopes are all but finished.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bengals are 1-point favorites versus the Chargers, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 45.5 points. Cincinnati is 6-5 overall and 3-2 on the road, while San Diego is 4-7 overall and 2-3 at home.
TRENDS: The over is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings between these two teams in San Diego and 7-0-2 in the last nine meetings between these two teams overall. The underdog is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams, while the road squad is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.
