Browns vs. Lions Pick
In the “Dud Bowl” matchup of week, the Detroit Lions host the Cleveland Browns this Sunday at 1:00PM ET.
The Browns were defeated 16-0 by the Ravens on Monday night as 11.5-point underdogs. The combined score went under the posted total of 39 points as Brady Quinn threw for only 99 yards and two interceptions on 13-of-31 passing.
The Lions fell in Minnesota 27-10 to the Vikings as 17-point underdogs. The combined score went under the posted total of 47.5 as Matthew Stafford threw for 224 yards with a touchdown for Detroit. Receiver Calvin Johnson had eight catches for 84 yards.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Lions 3.5-point favorites over the Browns on Sunday. The over/under total for this game has been established at 38 points.
Both teams have been brutal of late, with the Browns going 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 games and the Lions going 1-4-1 against the number in their last six games. The under has covered in five of Detroit’s last six games at home and in five of Cleveland’s last six games on the road.
Both of these teams are atrocious, but at least the Lions can score at times. Cleveland might have the worst offense in NFL history and will be without receiver Josh Cribbs, who is their best offensive weapon by a long shot.
The Browns defense isn’t bad and can generate some pressure with their solid front four, but the offense is so bad that they could be shut out every week (even by the Lions). Quinn was horrible on Monday night and has nobody to throw to. If they can’t run the ball, the Browns have nothing, so we expect Detroit to load the box with defenders and make Quinn beat them.
Lay the points with the Lions in this one. Stafford has shown signs of improving each week and if he could get a little time to throw the ball he’d put up better numbers. Our free pick for this game is the Lions –3.5 and the under 38.
Our NFL Week 11 Free Pick for this matchup is: DETROIT LIONS –3.5 and UNDER 38.
