NFL Week 10 Free Picks
A couple of totals jump out to us this week in the NFL. To find out which ones, check out our NFL Week 10 Picks & Predictions.
Below are our top four selections in Week 10. For all of our Week 10 predictions, please visit our NFL Picks section.
Jets vs. Browns
In wins over the Saints and Patriots, the Browns have looked great their last two games. But can they keep this up? Colt McCoy has played better than expected, but he’s facing one of the most complicated defenses in the league and eventually he’s going to look like a rookie. All first-year starters suffer bumps in the road and while he’s held his own against the likes of Pittsburgh, New Orleans and New England, eventually he’s going to make a handful of mistakes in a game. All rookies do.
Our pick is the Jets -3. New York is 8-2 against the number in its last 10 road games and 4-0 ATS in its last four versus the AFC. Gang Green hasn’t looked great the past two weeks, but Mark Sanchez and Co. put it together this weekend and pick up a road win against a hot Browns team.
Panthers vs. Bucs
The Panthers are one putrid football team and they’re about to get even more putrid with rookie Jimmy Clausen entering the starting lineup again due to an injury to Matt Moore. There’s also a very good chance that Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo Williams and Treyll Sutton will all miss the game due to injuries, which leaves Mike Goodson as the featured back.
Mike Goodson? Yikes. Tampa Bay could pitch a shutout this week and while we’re tempted to lay the points with the Bucs, the smarter money may be on the under, which is 7-1 in Tampa’s last eight games versus NFC South opponents. Our pick is the under 37.
Vikings vs. Bears
The side is too close to call. The Bears have caught a ton of breaks to get to where they are and they may be the most overrated team in the NFL. But the Vikings needed a miracle comeback in the fourth quarter to beat a lousy Arizona team at home last week, so it’s not like they’re anything to write home about either.
With that in mind, we think there’s more value in the total than the side. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams in Chicago and 6-2-1 in the last nine meetings overall. Both Brett Favre and Jay Cutler love themselves the turnover and usually that means points on both sides of the ball. Our pick is the over 41.
49ers vs. Rams
The 49ers have found new energy under quarterback Troy Smith two weeks ago in London, but this is still one of the most unprepared teams in the NFL, week in and week out. Mike Singletary makes for some good quotes and halftime speeches, but he needs better coordinators around him.
What we’re saying is, we’re not going to lay six points with a team that hasn’t shown its capable of blowing anyone out. The Rams have an opportunity to seize sole possession of first place in the NFC West with a win and a Seahawks loss, so we like their chances of keeping things close in San Francisco this weekend. Our pick is St. Louis +6.
