Titans vs 49ers Pick
The Tennessee Titans look to make it two in a row when they travel west to take on the San Francisco 49ers at 4:15PM ET.
The Titans earned their first win of the season with a 30-13 victory as a 3-point favorite in Week 8. Chris Johnson rushed for 228 yards with two touchdowns on 24 carries for Tennessee, while Vince Young threw for 125 yards with a touchdown.
The 49ers lost to the Colts 18-14 as a 13-point underdog last Sunday. Alex Smith threw for 198 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while Frank Gore rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made the 49ers 4.5-point favorites over the Titans in Week 9. The over/under total for this game has been set at 41 points.
The Titans haven’t been good this season, but they are 5-0-1 against the spread in their last six games when playing San Francisco. The last time these two teams played in San Francisco, the 49ers pushed in a 24-22 win, but the Titans beat the Niners 33-22 in 2005 as a 9-point favorite.
Young has seemingly provided a spark in Tennessee and we think his success won’t just be a one-week fluke. We see this as a 3-point game either way, so we love the fact that we’re getting 4.5-points with the Titans. Tennessee’s secondary hasn’t played well this season, but Smith and the 49ers’ passing game hasn’t been potent and probably won’t take advantage.
We also like the over in this game as the total has gone over in six of San Francisco’s last nine games at home. The total has also gone over in four of Tennessee’s last six games.
