NFL Week 9 Las Vegas Odds

(The Spread) – In our weekly look at the Las Vegas NFL lines, we note some differences between the spreads from offshore books and those from Sin City.

Giants @ Patriots, 4:15PM ET Sunday

The biggest non-conference matchup on the Week 9 schedule is a rematch of the 2008 Super Bowl between the Giants and Patriots. While New England opened as a 9-point favorite at most of the offshore books, the line is down to 8.5 at the Las Vegas Hilton in Nevada. It’ll be interesting to see if public bettors will pay the high price to take a New England team that suffered its second loss of the year last Sunday.

49ers @ Redskins, 1:00PM ET Sunday

The Niners opened as 4.5-point favorites at most offshore books but the line is down to 3.5 at the LV Hilton. The public is already jumping on San Francisco (which is 6-0-1 against the spread this season), so it’s interesting that the line is moving in Washington’s favor. It doesn’t take much to move the line early in the week but maybe the sharps have come out to back the Redskins.

Ravens @ Steelers, 8:20PM ET Sunday

The line in the Sunday Night Football game is arguably the most noteworthy because the Steelers are 3.5-point favorites offshore and 3-point favorites at the Las Vegas Hilton. Whether or not the offshore books will bring the line down to the key number of 3 remains to be seen.

Rams @ Cardinals, 4:15PM ET Sunday

The line is still absent for this game at many offshore books but the Rams have opened as 4-point underdogs in Vegas. That seems a little high given St. Louis’ upset victory over New Orleans last week and given the fact that Sam Bradford should return from a high ankle sprain that has kept him out the past few weeks. Kevin Kolb is also dealing with turf toe and if he can’t go, there’s little doubt that the line will move in the Rams’ favor.
