Week 7 Betting Recap
Week 7 in the NFL went to the chalk, as a 10 of the 13 favorites covered over the weekend.
Away favorites are covering at a 61.11% clip this year (22-14), while favorites in general are covering 55.45% of the time (56-45-2). Usually a solid bet for most savvy cappers, home dogs are just 14-22, covering just 38.89% of the time.
Steelers defense comes up big for bettors
Depending on what side of the bet you were on, Sunday’s Vikings-Steelers game was thrilling. Pittsburgh scored two defensive touchdowns in the final six minutes to cover as 6-point favorites and steal at least a cover from Minnesota bettors, if not an outright win. The combined 44 points went under the posted total of 46.5.
Colts cruise over Rams has heavy favorites
If you weren’t afraid to lay 14.5 points on Sunday, then the Colts were an easy cover for you as Indy beat the hapless St. Louis Rams 42-6. The game was never really in doubt, but a 14-point forth quarter held bettors breath easy. The combined 48 points went over the posted total of 45.
Jets bounce back with rout of Raiders
Some bettors hoping to cash in on the Raiders as 8-point home dogs were disappointed from the start, as the Jets climbed out to a 24-0 halftime lead and never looked back. New York cruised to a 38-0 win and put its ugly 16-13 overtime loss to the Bills behind them.
Saints make remarkable comeback
Bettors who had the Miami Dolphins at +7 were feeling pretty good about things late in the second quarter when the Fish were up 24-3. But New Orleans mounted a massive comeback by routing the Dolphins 45-10 from right before halftime and through the second half. The Saints scored a defensive touchdown late in the fourth quarter to earn a 46-34 win and a remarkable cover.
