CHICAGO, IL (The Spread) – Fresh off of their Monday night victory over the Lions the Bears will host the Panthers at 1:00PM ET in Chicago on Sunday.
CAROLINA: The Panthers are a mess. Since beating the Saints 35-27 in Week 2, Carolina has lost four straight games and has failed to cover in three of those four contests. The Panthers’ latest loss came in a 19-14 defeat at the hands of the Cowboys as Cam Newton threw for 233 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Steven Smith added seven catches for 83 yards while Jonathan Stewart was held to just 35 yards on 10 carries. The Panthers are now 1-5 on the season and 2-4 against the spread.
CHICAGO: The Bears improved to 5-1 with their 13-7 victory over the Lions on Monday night. Jay Cutler threw for just 150 yards and one touchdown while Matt Forte rushed for 96 yards on 22 caries. Brandon Marshall also added six catches for 81 yards with one touchdown and Chicago’s defense completely shut down Detroit’s offense until 30 seconds remaining on the clock. The backdoor cover by the Lions halted a streak of three-straight covers for the Bears, who are now 4-2 against the spread this season.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bears are 9-point favorites over the Panthers, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 43 points. The Panthers enter this game with a straight up record of 1-5 and are 2-4 against the spread, while the Bears are 5-1 straight up and 4-2 ATS.
