Chargers vs. Browns Week 8 Odds
CLEVELAND, OH (The Spread) – The Chargers will head to Cleveland this Sunday as a slight road favorite when they play the Browns at 1:00PM ET.
SAN DIEGO: For the past two weeks the Chargers have had to sit on their embarrassing loss to the Broncos on Monday Night Football in which they blew a 24-0 halftime lead. Philip Rivers threw for 241 yards and two touchdown passes but he was also intercepted four times in the game, including once late in the fourth quarter when Chris Harris returned the gift 46 yards for a touchdown. The loss dropped San Diego to 3-3 (the same record as Denver) and 3-3 against the spread as the Chargers failed to cover as a 1-point favorite. San Diego has now failed to cover the number in three of its last four games.
CLEVELAND: The Browns couldn’t generate much offense last week as they fell to the Colts, 17-13. Rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden completed 25-of-41 passes for 264 yards with two touchdowns in the loss, while fellow first-year player Trent Richardson was held to eight yards on eight carries. Richardson might miss this Sunday due to a rib injury, which means Montario Hardesty would be Cleveland’s primary back. The loss dropped the Browns to 1-6 overall and 3-3-1 against the spread, while the under has covered in four of the team’s first seven games.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Chargers are 1-point favorites over the Browns, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 44 points. The Chargers enter this game with a straight up record of 3-3 and are 3-3 against the spread, while the Browns are 1-5 straight up and 3-3-1 ATS.
TRENDS: The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams while the underdog is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings overall. The Chargers, meanwhile, are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games versus the AFC while the Browns are 5-0 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss.
