Jets vs. Dolphins Week 8 Odds
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – A battle between AFC East teams will ensue this Sunday when the Jets host the Dolphins at 1:00PM ET.
MIAMI: Two weeks ago the Dolphins edged the Rams 17-14 in Miami before heading into their bye week. Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill completed 21-of-29 passes for 185 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, while Marlon Moore came out of nowhere to catch three passes for 46 yards and a touchdown, burning rookie corner Janoris Jenkins in the process. Reggie Bush was held to just 17 yards on 12 carries but did add five catches for 44 yards. The victory was the Dolphins’ second in as many weeks and the team’s third win of the season. Miami is now 3-3 overall and 3-3 against the spread after failing to cover as a 5.5-point home favorite versus St. Louis. Bush leads the team with three touchdowns and 434 rushing yards.
NEW YORK: The Jets took a 26-23 lead on the Patriots with less than two minutes remaining in the game last Sunday, but New England eventually tied the game with no time remaining and then won 29-26 in overtime. Mark Sanchez completed 28-of-41 passes for 328 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while Jeremy Kerley caught seven passes for 120 yards in the loss. The Jets covered as an 11-point underdog so they’re now 5-2 against the spread this year but just 3-4 overall. Sanchez leads the team with 1,453 passing yards while Shonn Greene has a team-high five touchdowns.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Dolphins are 1-point favorites over the Jets, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 41 points. The Dolphins enter this game with a straight up record of 3-3 and are 3-3 against the spread, while the Jets are 3-4 straight up and 5-2 ATS.
TRENDS: The Dolphins are 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five trips to New York, but they’re just 7-20-1 against the number in their last 28 games overall versus the Jets. The road team, meanwhile, is 8-3-1 against the number in the last 12 meetings between Miami and New York.
