Bears vs. Lions MNF Odds
(The Spread) – NFC North rivals clash tonight on Monday Night Football when the Lions host the Bears at 8:30PM ET.
Oddsmakers have installed Detroit as a 6.5-point favorite against Chicago for tonight’s game, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 47 points. The Bears enter tonight’s game with a 2-2 record but have failed to cover the spread in their last three games. The Lions, meanwhile, are a perfect 4-0 on the year and have covered the spread in three of their first four games.
The line has danced around a bit since it opened last week. The Lions were 6.5-point favorites at the Las Vegas Hilton before dropping to 5-point favorites by midweek. But the spread is back up to 6.5 at most books and even as high as 7 at the LV Hilton. The over/under has moved much after opening at 47.5. It’s set between 47 and 47.5 at most books.

One of the reasons the Lions have had so much success early on is their pass rush and coverage unit on defense. Thanks to pass rushers Kyle Vanden Bosch and Ndamukong Suh, Detroit has been able to pressure opponents on the front end and stay in coverage on the back end. Offensively, the Lions’ passing game has been a huge success thanks to the dynamic abilities of receiver Calvin Johnson, who is nearly unbeatable in one-on-one coverage.
According to latest NFL trends, the over is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams in Detroit and 4-1 in the last five meetings overall. The underdog is also 10-4 against the spread in the last 14 meetings between these two teams while the road squad is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
