Jaguars vs. Bills Free Pick
One week after upsetting the Colts, the Jaguars look to make it two in a row when they take on the winless Bills on Sunday. Read on to view our prediction for this Week 5 matchup.
Before getting to our prediction, let’s take a look at the odds for this game.
Oddsmakers from online sports Sportsbook.com currently list the Bills as a 1.5-point road favorite over the Jaguars in Week 5. The over/under total for this game has been set at 41 points.
The Bills were horrendous last week in a 38-14 loss to the Jets and are now 0-2 at home. They rank last in the league in passing yards and last in run defense.
The Jaguars, meanwhile, pulled off a huge upset over the Colts last Sunday thanks to Josh Scobee’s 59-yard game-winning field goal. They rank 12th in rushing yards and 13th in run defense, but have struggled throwing the ball (26th) and rank 30th in pass defense.
As it currently stands, 75% of the betting public favors the Jaguars at –1.5, which is based on over 6,000 wagers. That said, I think the Jags are being overvalued here, even when you consider how bad Buffalo played last week.
The Prediction:
After beating the Colts last Sunday, there’s going to be a natural letdown for the Jaguars this weekend playing a winless team. Don’t forget that this was a team that scored just 16 combined points in two games after beating the Broncos in Week 1 and they’re just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games following a straight up win. The underdog, on the other hand, is 4-1 against the number in the last five meetings between these two teams and the Jags are just 2-6 ATS in their past eight games with the Bills. As hard as it may be to back a winless team in essentially a pick’em game, my prediction is the Bills +1.5.
