Patriots vs. Dolphins Prediction
AFC East rivals square off in Miami tonight as the Dolphins host the Patriots on Monday Night Football. Let’s take a look at the matchup and make a prediction for tonight’s game.
Bet Patriots vs. Dolphins Odds
Before we make a pick, let’s take a look at the odds for this Week 4 matchup.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com have made the Patriots 1-point favorites over the Dolphins on Monday Night Football. The over/under total for this game is currently 48.
In Week 3, the Patriots hung on to beat the Bills 38-30, although they failed to cover. Tom Brady completed 21-of-27 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns while compiling a 142.6 passer rating.
He’ll find it tougher to move the ball tonight against a Miami defense that had only allowed 20 points in its first two games of the season. They cracked last weekend, however, yielding 31 points in a 31-23 loss to the Jets. (A loss in which the Dolphins also failed to cover.)
Now the Dolphins take on a New England passing attack that ranks 8th in the league. There’s a chance that their secondary issues were exposed last weekend against the Jets, who racked up 9.1 yards per pass against the Dolphins last week and 402 total yards (146 of which came on the ground, however).
The over is 5-0 in the Patriots last five games overall and 3-0-1 in the Dolphins last four games on grass. Given the state of New England’s defense, my prediction for tonight is that the game will once again go over for these two teams. Miami’s defense was solid the first two weeks, but don’t forget it faced a weak Buffalo offense and a struggling Minnesota passing attack. If Mark Sanchez was able to have a good bit of success against them, then there’s no doubt Tom Brady will as well.
As a bonus pick, you may want to consider a play on the Dolphins as well. There’s always value in the home team getting points for a nationally televised game and the Patriots are just 1-4 against the number in their last five meetings with Miami. Furthermore, the underdog is 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings, further strengthening my prediction of an outright win for Miami.
