NFL Week 2
Kansas City Chiefs Spin
Patrick Mahomes completed 24-of-32 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns in the Chiefs’ 34-20, Week 1 win over the Texans on Thursday night. The Texans got off to a 7-0 lead, but the Chiefs proceeded to hang 31 unanswered points on the board and cruised into the fourth quarter with a commanding lead. It’s the main reason for the depressed numbers for Mahomes, though he did sling a trio of touchdown passes, hooking up with Sammy Watkins, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill for one each. The night could have been bigger, too, but Demarcus Robinson dropped two would-be touchdowns. By the time the final quarter rolled around, Mahomes was just sticking the ball into Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s belly in order to kill the clock. The best quarterback in the sport, Mahomes gets the Chargers in Week 2.
Los Angeles Chargers DFS Spin
Tyrod Taylor completed 16-of-30 passes for 208 yards in the Chargers’ Week 1 win over the Bengals. Taylor made some good and bad throws in the season opener, but it was disappointing to see him only rush for seven yards on six attempts. In the Chargers’ slow-paced attack, Taylor will need his legs to earn any QB2 love for fantasy. With Los Angeles leading for a chunk of Week 1, Taylor wasn’t forced into scrambles. That is expected to change in Week 2 with the Chiefs’ high-powered offense coming to California. Taylor may backdoor into top-24 quarterback production then, even if the Chargers get blown out.
Chiefs vs. Chargers Betting Prediction
There’s little reason to believe that the Chargers will keep pace with the Chiefs after their offensive struggled mightily last week in Cincinnati against a suspect Bengals defense that allowed the Browns to run all over them on Thursday night. The Chiefs are 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven games versus the Chargers and are a perfect 7-0 against the number versus L.A. when playing this series on the road. Don’t overthink this one.
