Rams-Skins Free Pick

Two 0-1 teams looking for their first wins of the 2009 season will square off in D.C. this Sunday when the Washington Redskins host the St. Louis Rams at 1:00PM ET.

Bet NFL Week 2

The Rams looked terrible in their ’09 opener, dropping a 28-0 decision to the Seahawks in Seattle as Marc Bulger could only muster 191 passing yards. Steven Jackson rushed for 67 yards on 16 carries as St. Louis failed to cover the 7-point spread as road underdogs.

The Redskins also dropped their opener, losing to the Giants 23-17 in New York. The Skins did cover the 6.5-point spread as Jason Campbell passed for 211 yards with a touchdown and a n inception, while tight end Chris Cooley caught seven passes for 68 yards and a TD.

Oddsmakers from online sports book BetOnline have made the Redskins 10-point home favorites over the Rams on Sunday. The over/under total for this game has been set at 37 points.

The last time this two teams met, the Rams beat the Redskins 19-17 in October of 2008. The Rams also beat the Skins 37-31 in December of 2006.

Forget the last two meetings between these two teams – these Rams are bad. Even though they finished 2-14 last year, they were never shut out, unlike last week, where they couldn’t muster a miserable field goal.

Washington doesn’t have the most explosive offense in the league, but Campbell will be able to move the ball successfully against St. Louis on Sunday. Clinton Portis should have plenty of room to run against the Rams’ porous run-defense and Santana Moss could have a field day against a suspect secondary.

We like the Redskins in a blowout, especially considering that DT Albert Haynesworth could suffocate Jackson and the Rams’ running game, rendering their offense useless. Part with the points and take Washington in a laugher.

We also like the under in this matchup as the total has gone under in four of St. Louis’s last five games when playing Washington.

Our NFL Free Picks for this Week 2 matchup are: WASHINGTON REDSKINS -10 and UNDER 37.
