Cards-Jags Free Pick

Two teams in search of their first win will square off at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium on Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Arizona Cardinals at 1:00PM ET.

Bet NFL Week 2

Kurt Warner passed for 288 yards and a touchdown in Arizona’s 20-16 loss to the 49ers last Sunday, but also threw two interceptions. The Cardinals failed to cover the 4.5-point spread as the favorite.

The Jaguars fell to the Colts 14-12 in Indianapolis in their opener, but they managed to cover the 7-point spread as a road underdog. Quarterback David Garrard threw for 122 yards, while running back Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 97 yards with a touchdown on 21 carries.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Jaguars 3-point home favorites in their matchup against the Cardinals. The over/under total for this game has been set at 42.5.

The Cardinals had issues moving the ball on the 49ers in the fourth quarter last week, which contributed to their loss. Receiver Anquan Boldin was limited due to a injury and he was held in check by a solid San Francisco secondary, but if he’s feeling better he could have some success against an inconsistent Jacksonville defensive backfield.

While Arizona certainly comes into this game with its problems (i.e. the lack of a running game), the Cardinals should play inspired on the road against a Jaguar team that lacks explosion on the offensive side of the ball.

As long as the Cards can keep Jones-Drew in check, they should be fine. This seems to be a three-point game either way, so we’ll gladly take the underdog with the points and hope that Warner will limit the mistakes this week.

The total has gone under in five of Jacksonville’s last six games, so along with Arizona +3, we also recommend taking the under in this game.

Our NFL Free Picks for this Week 2 matchup are: ARIZONA CARDINALS +3 and UNDER 42.5.
