CLE-DEN Free Pick

The Denver Broncos look to build off their shocking win in Week 1 when they host the Cleveland Browns this Sunday at 4:15PM ET.

Bet NFL Week 2

Denver got an unthinkable win last week in Cincinnati when Bengals’ cornerback Leon Hall battled a ball straight in the air and into the waiting arms of Bronco wideout Brandon Stokley, who raced to the end zone for the go-ahead score with only 30 seconds remaining. The Broncos won 12-7 and covered the 4.5-point spread as underdogs.

The Browns lost to the Vikings 34-20 as a 4.5-point home favorite. Brady Quinn threw for 205 yards with a touchdown and a brutal interception and overall, had a rough day. Jamal Lewis looked good in his limited carries, rushing for 57 yards on 11 tots.

Oddsmakers from online sports book have made the Broncos 3-point home favorites over the Browns on Sunday. The over/under total has been established at 39 for this game.

The last time these two teams met was in November of last year when the Broncos edged the Browns 34-30 in Denver. The Broncos also beat the Browns twice before that, winning 17-7 in Denver in October of 2006 and 23-20 in December of 2003.

As long as Quinn doesn’t play as poorly as he did in Week 1, we think that the Browns are the play in this game. The Broncos were fortunate to win in Cincinnati and we think their offense will struggle for a second straight week.

Even though they gave up 34 points to Minnesota last week, Cleveland’s defense actually played well in the first half. It wasn’t until Adrian Peterson broke the game open with a couple of big second half runs that the game got out of hand. And Denver doesn’t have Peterson at its disposal.

We like the Browns in an upset and recommend taking the under. The total has gone under in 15 of Cleveland’s last 23 games, as well as in five of Denver’s last six games at home.

Our NFL Free Picks for this Week 2 matchup are: CLEVELAND BROWNS +3 and UNDER 39.
