BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) – The second week of the NFL season closes on Monday night with the Cincinnati Bengals hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers at 8:30PM ET.

Pittsburgh is 0-1 on the season, 0-1 against the spread and playing in its first road game. Cincinnati is 0-1 overall, 0-0-1 against the spread and playing in its home opener. Pittsburgh has won five of the last six in this series.

Trends show that the Steelers are 13-2-1 against the spread in their last 16 trips to Cincinnati and 18-7-1 in their last 26 games against the Bengals. These two have hit the under in 4 of their last 5 meetings.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Cincinnati is the favorite to win this game, as the Bengals have odds of -6.5 points against the Steelers. The over/under total for this game has been set at 41 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had the Bengals favored by 7.5 points. The spread held firm there for most of the week before falling back to 6.5. The over/under total for this game opened at 40.5 points. It bumped back and forth between 40.5 and 41 before settling in at 41.

The Bengals started the season with a 24-21 loss at Chicago last Sunday. Cincinnati had 340 yards of offense in the win while the defense held Chicago to 323 total yards. The Bengals did commit three costly turnovers in the loss and also had eight penalties. The real problem for Cincinnati was just 63 rushing yards as a team on 21 attempts. Andy Dalton did go 26 of 33 passing for 282 yards and two touchdowns while A.J. Green caught nine passes for 162 yards and two scores.

The Steelers had an awful start to the season, losing at home to the Titans, 16-9. Pittsburgh’s offense was a mess, as they had just 194 yards in the loss, were sacked five times and committed two turnovers. As a team, Pittsburgh rushed for just 31 yards on 15 carries. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was 21 of 33 passing for 191 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The defense performed well, holding the Titans to just 229 yards.

In terms of Injuries, Pittsburgh defensive back Curtis Brown is doubtful due to illness while cornerback Cortez Allen is out with an ankle injury. Cincinnati tackle Andrew Whitworth is doubtful with a knee injury.
