The Broncos started the NFL season with a 49-27 win over the Super Bowl champs, the Baltimore Ravens. The Broncos torched the Baltimore defense for 510 yards while the Denver defense held Baltimore to 393 yards and forced a pair of turnovers. Peyton Manning tied an NFL record by throwing seven touchdown passes in the win. Manning was 27 of 42 passing for 462 yards. Demaryius Thomas led in receiving, as he caught five passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns.

The Giants started the season with a 36-31 loss at Dallas on Sunday Night Football. The Giants gave up just 331 yards of offense to the Cowboys, but the New York offense was very sloppy, turning the ball over six times while committing six penalties. Two of the turnovers were returned for Dallas touchdowns. Eli Manning did throw for 450 yards on 27 of 42 passing with four touchdowns, but also had three interceptions. David Wilson was benched at running back after fumbling twice. He had just seven carries for 19 yards.

In terms of Injuries, Denver cornerback Champ Bailey is doubtful due to a foot injury while linebacker Wesley Woodyard is questionable with an ankle injury. New York defensive end Damontre Moore is questionable with a shoulder injury while cornerback Prince Amukamara is doubtful with a concussion.
