49ers vs. Seahawks Updated Odds
Pete Carroll will kick off his tenure in Seattle when his Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon. Let’s check out the betting information on this game.
Game Preview:
Even though they failed to reach the postseason last year, the 49ers are arguably the team to beat in the NFC West this year. Their defense continues to grow under head coach Mike Singletary and their offense should be improved now that Alex Smith is back under center. The offensive line remains a question mark with rookies starting at guard and tackle, but this is a game the Niners have to win if they expect to make a run at the division crown this year.
Carroll takes over a depleted team in Seattle, one that may have trouble competing in 2010. The offense lacks playmakers and questions remain about whether or not quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has anything left. This team has a couple of good young players on both sides of the ball, but not enough overall talent to compete week in and week out. That said, Carroll will certainly be motivated to beat the division favorite in his debut and a win in Week 1 could go a long way for this team.
Line Movement & Updated Odds:
This game opened as a pick in April, but then moved to Seahawks +1 (June 21), +1.5 (June 25), +2 (July 4), +2.5 (July 8) and now oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made Seattle a 3-point underdog. The over/under total for this game is 37 points.
