Bengals vs. Patriots Updated Odds
Two playoff teams from 2009 will square off in Foxboro this Sunday when the New England Patriots host the Cincinnati Bengals. Let’s check out the updated odds.
Game Preview:
The Bengals knew they had to upgrade their passing game in the offseason, which is why they selected tight end Jermaine Gresham and receiver Jordan Shipley in the draft, then signed Terrell Owens to a free agent contract months later. Coupled with Chad Ochocinco, the Bengals now believe they have a passing game to help match their rushing attack with Cedric Benson.
The Bengals will have a stiff road test this Sunday, because the Patriots will be motivated to get a win after they were stomped at home by the Ravens in the first round of the playoffs last season. Tom Brady is now a full year and a half removed from his knee surgery and he could be in store for a 2007-like season assuming Wes Welker can fully recover from his injury and Randy Moss stays motivated. Defensively, the Pats need to figure out a way to drum up a pass rush.
Line Movement & Updated Odds:
The Patriots opened as a 6-point favorite back in April, then immediately became a 6.5-point fav the next day. The line then dropped all the way to –5 on August 28, then –5 in early August and that’s where oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com currently have the point spread listed at. The over/under total for this game opened at 44.5 and is now 45.
