Denver Broncos Fantasy Spin
Coach Vic Fangio told reporters Monday that there’s “a chance” that LB Todd Davis (calf) suits up for the team’s Week 1 matchup against the Raiders. Davis has been dealing with a partial calf tear since the middle of July. His presence would be a major boost for the front seven and bad news for rookie Raiders RB Josh Jacobs. We’ll know more about Davis’ status later in the week once the Broncos release their official injury report.
Oakland Raiders Fantasy Spin
Raiders released WR Antonio Brown. Wow. AB requested his release Saturday morning and was granted it before noon. It’s unclear what type of market he’ll have after back-to-back breakdowns with both the Steelers and Raiders, especially considering the lack of guaranteed money he’ll likely draw on the open market. Brown’s time with the Raiders might be over, but we haven’t heard the last of this story.
Denver
The over is 7-2 in the Broncos’ last nine games in September.
Oakland
The under is 3-0-1 in the Raiders’ last four games overall.
Prediction
The under is a perfect 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams and is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Oakland. The under is also 20-8-1 in the Broncos’ last 29 games overall and is 17-4 in the Raiders’ last 21 games versus divisional foes. I just don’t see how these two teams move the ball consistently tonight. Oakland does have a bottom-5 defense but Denver is far from explosive. Plus, with Vic Fangio in charge of the Broncos’ defense, the punchless Raiders will have a difficult time getting into the 20s tonight. I like the under.
