Titans vs. Browns Week 1 Prediction
Baker Mayfield and the Browns have high expectations heading into the 2019 season but will they stumble in Week 1? The Browns will host the Titans at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday and are listed as 5.5-point favorites.
Game Snapshot
465 Tennessee Titans (+5.5) at 466 Cleveland Browns (-5.5); O/U 44.5
1:00 p.m. ET, September 8, 2019
FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, OH
Public Betting
According to our NFL Public Betting Chart page, the Browns are receiving 58% of the betting tickets as a 5.5-point favorite over the Titans.
Tennessee Titans Fantasy Spin
Titans RT Jack Conklin (knee) returned to full practice on Thursday. Conklin sat out Wednesday’s session but in hindsight, his absence probably had more to do with maintenance than anything injury-related. He’ll man his usual right tackle post Sunday when the Titans visit Cleveland.
Cleveland Browns Fantasy Spin
Odell Beckham (hip) was a full participant in Friday’s practice. Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens said Beckham is “ready to go.” Beckham’s hip hadn’t “opened up yet” while running yesterday, but it appears that he’ll play through his injury. Beckham is an obvious WR1 against the Titans, though the floor is lower than usual.
Tennessee Betting Trends
The Titans are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games played in September.
Cleveland Betting Trends
The Browns are 5-2 against the number in their last seven games overall.
Prediction
I think the Browns will come out of the gates hot in 2019 before eventually suffering some adversity later in the year. That said, this is too many points. The Titans should have another stout, underrated defense and while their offense is undergoing yet another transition, they won’t be a disaster. With all the hype surrounding the Browns entering the year, this line feels inflated, creating value in the Titans.
