Titans vs. Jaguars Odds
(The Spread) – The Jaguars will have a new quarterback when they host the Titans at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
Jack Del Rio and Jacksonville’s front office has seemingly wanted to rid themselves of quarterback David Garrard for years and on Tuesday of this week, they finally did. Garrard, who has been the team’s starting quarterback for the past several seasons, was surprisingly released just days before the Jaguars’ season opener.
Despite the fact that the team drafted Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert in the first round of April’s draft, it’ll be Luke McCown who will start under center this Sunday versus the Titans. McCown has seen limited action over the years and doesn’t figure to keep Gabbert on the bench for very long.
The Titans dealt with some controversy of their own recently, as dynamic running back Chris Johnson held out all of preseason. But the two sides worked together to iron out a new contract so that Johnson will be in uniform this Sunday. Per new head coach Mike Munchalk, Johnson won’t be limited despite not receiving any work in preseason.
According to latest NFL trends, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams, while the over is 5-2 in the Jaguars’ last seven divisional games. The Jags are also 10-2 against the spread in their last 12 games in Week 1 and 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a home favorite. The Titans, meanwhile, are 4-0 ATS in their lat four games in Week 1 and 11-3 ATS in their lat 14 September games but they’re just 1-4 ATS in their last five road games.
