NFL Preseason Week 4 Odds

2011 nfl preseason week 4 point spread odds over under totals

(The Spread) - We’ve reached the week in NFL preseason that only a bettor could love: Week 4.

This is the final week for teams to make decisions on the final few roster spots that they have heading into the season, which means starters won’t play much this week (if at all). There’s no need risking injury in a game that holds zero meaning in the standings.

But if there’s action, odds makers are going to provide lines and Week 4 in the preseason is no different. All but one game this week will be played on Thursday, with the lone exception (Raiders at Seahawks) coming on Friday.

Some of the more intriguing matchups (Giants vs. Patriots; Eagles vs. Jets) don’t have odds yet, but two playoff teams from a year ago will meet in Atlanta at 7:30PM ET this Thursday. The Falcons are 3-point home favorites versus the Ravens, while the over/under total is currently 38 points. The Falcons have yet to win a preseason game so far.

Also on Thursday, Cam Newton and the Panthers will host the Steelers at 8:00PM ET. Newton is one of the few starting quarterbacks in the league who will see significant playing time because the rookie needs all the experience he can get. Oddsmakers have installed Carolina as a 3-point favorite over Pittsburgh, while the over/under is 35 points.

Will this be Tim Tebow’s last week in Denver? Rumors have started to circulate that the former first-round pick may be cut by the Broncos, who are 3-point road underdogs this week versus the Cardinals. It would seem unlikely that the Broncos would cut Tebow after only one year but he continues to slide down the depth chart and the current coaching staff had no hand in drafting him so you never know.
