(The Spread) – After leading the NFL in receiving yards in 2012 can Lions’ wideout Calvin Johnson accomplish the feat again this season?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Johnson is currently favored at 11/4 to record the most receiving yards in the 2013 NFL regular season. Dez Bryant of the Cowboys has the next-best odds at 8/1 and A.J. Green of the Bengals is 9/1. Brandon Marshall of the Bears also has 9/1 odds, while Julio Jones of the Falcons and Demaryius Thomas of the Broncos are 14/1, respectively.

Even with the addition of running back Reggie Bush, the Lions figure to throw the ball plenty in 2013, which should lead to another monster year for “Megatron.” The odds are steep for Johnson but he’s the most logical receiver to rack up the most yards in 2013.

Bryant isn’t a sleeper considering he has the next-best odds, but at 8/1 there’s a ton of value in the Dallas receiver. Despite catching 30 fewer passes than Johnson last season, Bryant racked up 1,382 yards on 138 targets. For comparisons sake, Johnson finished with 1,964 yards but he was targeted an astounding 205 times by Matthew Stafford.

Speaking of targets, Marshall figures to receive plenty of attention from quarterback Jay Cutler again this season, making the Bears’ receiver a sleeper to win this prop odd. Marshall was targeted 194 times last season and wound up catching 118 passes for 1,508 yards and 11 touchdowns. In Chicago’s second preseason game, Cutler locked onto Marshall throughout the first quarter and a half, which further illustrated how the Bears plan to use the veteran receiver this season.

One other receiver of note is Jones, who is technically Atlanta’s No. 2 wideout behind Roddy White but who figures to have a monster third season. He’s worked all offseason on getting off the line of scrimmage and beating press coverage. As his game expands, we’re going to see him consistently put up lofty numbers. The only thing that hurts him in this prop is the fact that he shares an offense with White, Tony Gonzalez and now running back Steven Jackson.
