NFL Preseason Free Pick: Take. According to latest NFL trends, Minnesota is 3-8 Under last 11 on the road in preseason.
The good news for Minnesota is that Adrian Peterson returns for at least a series or two. The bad news is that Christian Ponder has been awful so far this preseason. Last week, he threw for 53 yards as the Vikings fell to Buffalo last week, 20-16. As for San Francisco, their defense has been bee superb as they've allowed just 23 points in two games. But they've scored only 21 points, including 15 last week against Kansas City. Both games have gone well under the total. Starter Colin Kaepernick has played sparingly in the first two games and expect that to occur again. The 49ers have five quarterbacks on the roster and they need to find out if any of them can backup Kaepernick, who may be super-athletic but also runs a lot. That's a risky for a quarterback so it's important to have a quality backup. Colt McCoy has not been very good as he's posted a 25.3 passer rating. That may be why the 49ers signed 33-year old veteran Seneca Wallace, who should be able to run the Pistol offense a
bit better than the other backups. Wallace, McCoy and Scott Tolzien should see some action along with rookie B.J. Daniels. That means this isn't typical dress rehearsal for the San Francisco offense.
