2013-14 Colts Season Odds
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (The Spread) - After shocking the masses by making the playoffs last season can Andrew Luck and the Colts qualify again?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Colts are 40/1 long shots to win the 2014 Super Bowl and 15/1 to win the AFC Conference this season. They also have +240 odds to win the AFC South Division and carry an over/under win total of 8.5. They're also +145 for and -175 against making the playoffs again this year.
This offseason the Colts signed offensive tackle Gosder Cherilus in free agency and also added receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, running back Ahmad Bradshaw, offensive lineman Donald Thomas, quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, linebacker Eirk Walden, safety LaRon Landry, and defensive linemen Ricky Jean Francois and Aubrayo Franklin.
In the draft, the Colts selected Florida State defensive end Bjoern Werner in the first round and Illinois guard Hugh Thornton in the third. In the fourth round they took USC offensive lineman Khaled Holmes and in the fifth they selected Tennessee-Martin defensive tackle Montori Hughes.
With Luck under center the Colts have a chance to repeat their success from a year ago. He was that special as a rookie and with more talent in front and around him, he should only be better in 2013. That said, the defense remains a question mark and the Colts made the playoffs last year despite scoring a minus in point differential. Still, the AFC is rather weak as a whole this year so if Luck can put together another outstanding season we could see the Colts back in the playoffs.
