Steelers vs. Eagles Preseason Pick
PHILADELPHIA, PA (The Spread) – The all-important Week 3 of the NFL preseason kicks off tonight when the Eagles host the Steelers at 7:30PM ET.
Nick Foles bounced back from his shaky Week 1 performance by completing 8-of-10 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles’ second preseason game last Friday. He wasn’t perfect by any means, but after he threw two interceptions in his exhibition opener it was a nice step forward. Tight end Zach Ertz also caught two passes for 26 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles’ 42-35 loss to the Patriots in New England.
Meanwhile, Ben Roethlisberger was 8-of-11 for 128 yards and two touchdowns in Pittsburgh’s second preseason game against the Bills last Saturday. Big Ben is now 9-for-13 for 174 yards and two scores in two preseason games thus far. Youngster Markus Wheaton also caught a 16-yard touchdown in the win over the Bills.
Unfortunately for the Steelers, trouble found running backs Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount earlier this week when they were arrested for possession of marijuana on Wednesday. Bell was also popped for DUI as the two players were reportedly in possession of 20 grams of marijuana and were accompanied by a female. Coach Mike Tomlin did say that he plans to play both Bell and Blount in tonight’s preseason game.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Eagles are 3.5-point home favorites over the Steelers, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 48.5 points. With the starters expected to play a lot longer tonight as the two teams warm up for Week 1, we like the combined score to go over the total.
