Rams 2013-14 Season Odds
ST. LOUIS, MO (The Spread) – Following what many pundits would consider a successful offseason, the St. Louis Rams head into the 2013 NFL season as a potential playoff sleeper.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Rams are 40/1 to win the 2014 Super Bowl and 22/1 to win the NFC Conference next season. They’re also +650 to win the NFC West and have an over/under total of 7.5 for number of wins next season.
The Rams sent out to get fourth-year quarterback Sam Bradford more weapons and that’s what they did, signing free agent tight end Jared Cook and moving up in this year’s draft to select dynamic playmaker Tavon Austin. They also signed free agent offensive tackle Jake Long, who forces former second-round pick Rodger Saffold to move to right tackle in a series of changes that should upgrade the offensive line.
Defensively, the Rams selected linebacker Alec Ogltree at the end of the first round and took safety T.J. McDonald in the third-round. Both players are expected to start as rookies for a St. Louis defense that continues to improve. The strength of the entire team remains the defensive line, which features three former first-round picks in Chris Long, Robert Quinn and Michael Brockers. William Hayes also provides outstanding rotational depth.
Will the Rams be a surprise in 2013? That depends largely on Seattle and San Francisco, who are the strength of the NFC West. If either of those teams takes a step back then St. Louis might make some noise but the Rams still have inexperience, depth, and injury concerns on both sides of the ball. It would appear as though this team is still a year away from making the postseason under head coach Jeff Fisher.
