NFC West Preview: Rams

As always, the 2007 St. Louis Rams will be powered by their impressive offensive talent. Quarterback Marc Bulger is coming off another impressive season and with Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce still around the Rams air attack should be as consistent as ever.

Oddsmakers at Online Sports Book Bodog.com have odds posted on Bulger throwing for over 4200 yards this season with Issac Bruce and Torry Holt receiving over 2100 of those yards between the pair.

St. Louis Rams Running Back Stephen Jackson was an absolute stud a year ago. Jackson amassed 1528 yards rushing, 806 yards receiving and 16 total touchdowns. He has quickly made a name for himself among the NFL’s top running backs. So much so that Bodog has odds listed for Stephen Jackson rushing for 1590 yards in 2007.

The Rams did lose Kevin Curtis to free agency but Drew Bennett and Randy McMichael should easily make up for his departure. 

The big concern for fans in St Louis is the Rams defense. The St. Louis Rams defense ranked near the bottom of the league in yardage (335.1) and scoring (23.8) last season and it is hard to imagine them being any better this season.  Although their passing defense is fairly solid behind corners Tye Hill and Fakhir Brown, they are really the only bright spot in the secondary.

Defensive End Leonard Little helps quite a bit coming off the edge with his 13 sacks in 2006. But you need more than one player to stop a ground attack. Besides Little, the defensive line is pretty weak.

Rookie Adam Carriker will most likely be thrown into the starting line-up right away but it's unclear what impact he will have.

As a team, the Rams are listed at 4/1 odds of winning the division and at 15/1 to win the conference. As far as Super Bowl 42 is concerned, the St Louis Rams are listed at a huge 38/1 to win Super Bowl XLII on Sunday 02/03/08 in Arizona which would mean an incredible $3800 payout for every $100 bet.
