Bengals at Patriots Odds
The Cincinnati Bengals head to Foxboro on Thursday night to take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, who were impressive in their preseason opener last week.
These two teams had different starts in their preseason openers, as the Bengals lost 17-7 in New Orleans and the Patriots edged the Eagles 27-25 in Philadelphia. In New England’s victory, Brady tossed two touchdowns in his first action since Week 1 of the 2008 season. (Brady suffered a season-ending knee injury that week and had been rehabbing for months.)
Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer also had a strong start after missing most of the 2008 season, completing 7 of 11 passes for 133 yards and an interception. Receiver Chris Henry also had a solid outing against the Saints, hauling in seven passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Patriots massive (or at least massive for a preseason game) 7-point favorites over the Bengals in this contest. The over/under has also been established at 36.5.
Palmer isn’t expected to play in this game, which is the main reason why the point spread is so high. But Brady probably won’t play more than a quarter either, so don’t assume that this is going to be a blowout in New England’s favor because Palmer won’t be under center for Cincinnati.
NFL Preseason Week 2 Odds: Bengals at Patriots Odds & Over/Under Totals
Cincinnati Bengals +7 Over 36.5
New England Patriots –7 Under 36.5
