Panthers at Giants Odds

Two playoff teams from a year ago square off in East Rutherford, New Jersey when the New York Giants host the Carolina Panthers tonight at 8:00PM on ESPN.

Both of these teams had disappointing finishes to their 2008 seasons as the Giants were knocked out of the playoffs by NFC East rival Philadelphia and the Panthers were absolutely embarrassed in the divisional round by eventual NFC Champion Arizona.

The Giants had a productive offseason, inking running back Brandon Jacobs to a new contract and signing free agents Chris Canty, Michael Boley, C.C. Brown and Rocky Bernard. The G-Men are hoping that these additions will help offset the loss of defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who was hired as the head coach in St. Louis.

In their offseason, the Panthers franchised defensive end Julius Peppers and re-signed Jordan Gross and Jeff King. They also traded up for DE/LB Everette Brown in April’s draft.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have made the Giants 3-point favorites, while the over/under total have been set at 32.5.

The trends favor Carolina in this contest, as the Panthers are 13-4 against the spread vs. conference foes and the Giants are just 3-10 ATS if the total is between 32.5 and 35.

NFL Week 1 Preseason: Panthers at Giants Odds & Over/Under Totals:

Carolina Panthers +3 Over 32.5

New York Giants –3 Under 32.5
