Colts vs. Jets Preseason Pick
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – Former division rivals square off tonight in New Jersey when the Jets host the Colts at 7:00PM ET in Week 1 of the 2014 NFL preseason.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Jets are 3.5-point home favorites over the visiting Colts, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 37 points. For preseason games, the total usually remains between 34-38 as teams limit the reps that their starters take throughout the game.
The Colts had a busy offseason, signing receiver Hakeem Nicks to pair with quarterback Andrew Luck (pictured), defensive end Arthur Jones, linebacker D’Qwell Jackson and free safety Mike Adams to contracts. They lost Donald Brown, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Antoine Bethea in free agency and drafted Ohio State offensive lineman Jack Mewhort with their first pick back in May.
As for the Jets, they signed Michael Vick to back up starter Geno Smith at quarterback and also added running backs Chris Johnson and Daryl Richardson. Their biggest offseason move was bringing in receiver Eric Decker, who will be the team’s No. 1 receiver after coming over from Denver. The team also added Louisville safety Calvin Pryor in the first round, selected tight end Jace Amaro in the second round and nabbed Maryland cornerback Dexter McDougle in the third.
NFL Week 1 Preseason Free Pick: Take the under. As previously mentioned, the starters won’t play more than a series tonight, which should make for some low-scoring. The defenses are usually ahead of the offenses at this point in camp too, so don’t look for many fireworks between these two teams. The under is a safe bet.
