2014 Hall of Fame Game Odds
CANTON, OH (The Spread) - The Bills and Giants will battle tonight in the NFL preseason opener when the Hall of Fame Game kicks off at 8:00PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bills are currently 3-point favorites over the Giants in tonight's Hall of Fame Game. The total, meanwhile, is sitting at a miniscule 35 points. Usually preseason games have lower over/unders than the regular season due to the fact that many backups will play throughout the individual games.
The Giants come into this game after going through a fair amount of turnover in the offseason. Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride was fired and replaced with former Packers QBs coach Ben McAdoo, who is installing an up-tempo passing game that features short, quick passes designed to get the ball out of Eli Manning's hand quickly. The team also signed several potential free agent starters in running back Rashad Jennings, offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz, center J.D. Walton, linebacker Jameel McClain, cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and safety Quintin Demps.
As for the Bills, they lost 2013 defensive coordinator Mike Pettine in the offseason when he was hired by the Browns to be their next head coach. Buffalo replaced him with former Lions head coach Jim Schwartz, who is already tasked with having to fill the void of linebacker Kiko Alonso, who tore his ACL in offseason workouts.
The Bills hope that the addition of rookie receiver Sammy Watkins will go a long way in speeding the development of second-year quarterback E.J. Manuel, who had an injury-plagued rookie season. Back are running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller, as well as receiver Robert Woods. Mike Williams was also acquired in a trade with Tampa Bay.
